Just saw this news about Daikin Industries (DKILY) having strong trading volume. I know they're big in HVAC and air compressors. Could this affect the market for DIY compressors? Any thoughts?

Daikin? Isn't that the same company that makes those high-end mini-splits? I've used their compressors in some commercial builds. They're built like tanks. The stock volume spike is probably just investor noise. Doesn't mean they're gonna start selling pancake compressors at Home Depot any time soon. Stick with Ingersoll Rand for real workshop duty.

I'm more concerned about the CFM ratings. Daikin makes some precision scroll compressors for industrial setups, but for DIY, you want something with consistent PSI. Their stock movement might be due to new energy efficiency regs in Asia. Doesn't change the fact that for my shop, I need a compressor that holds steady at 90 PSI without pulsing. Daikin's stuff is overkill unless you're building a clean room.

Speaking from a safety standpoint, any compressor manufacturer's stock performance shouldn't affect your choice. What matters is proper ventilation, relief valves, and regular drain procedures. Daikin might be making moves in variable speed drives – that could be cool for noise reduction. But don't get distracted by ticker symbols. Check your tank's ASME rating instead!

I restore old cars, and I've used Daikin compressors in some industrial sandblasting rigs. They're pricey but last forever. If the stock is up, maybe they're investing in new tech. Imagine a silent compressor that doesn't wake the neighbors when you're blasting at 2am. I'd buy that! But for now, I'll stick with my old Quincy until it throws a rod.
