Hey guys, I'm looking to buy my first air compressor for some light DIY work like trimming and occasional nailing. I've narrowed it down to the Dewalt 6 gallon pancake and the Makita 2 gallon. Anyone have experience with either? I like Dewalt tools but heard Makita compressors are quieter.

I've been a carpenter for 30 years. For light DIY, either will work fine, but I'd go with the Dewalt 6 gallon. That extra tank capacity means less cycling. I've seen Dewalt compressors last years on job sites. Makita's are good too though. If noise is a concern, Makita is quieter, but Dewalt isn't that loud.

Dewalt all the way! I've got the 6 gallon pancake and it's been solid for years. Makita's are good but Dewalt just feels tougher. Plus, you can't beat the price. Get the Dewalt and don't look back.

I'm a Makita guy through and through. Their compressors are super quiet and reliable. I've had my Makita 2 gallon for 5 years, no issues. The Dewalt might have more tank, but Makita's build quality is top notch. You won't regret going Makita.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm leaning towards Dewalt for the capacity and price, but the quietness of Makita is tempting. Might just go with Dewalt since I already have some batteries. Appreciate the input!
