Hey guys, I'm in the market for a new pancake compressor. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt DWFP55126 and the Makita MAC2400. I mostly do trim work and use a nail gun, but sometimes I need to air up tires and stuff. Any advice? I've heard good things about both.

OP, I've owned both. The Makita is more industrial, but it's louder and heavier. The DeWalt is lighter and has a better carry handle, but it's not as powerful. For trim work, both are fine. But if you're going to be hauling it around a lot, the DeWalt wins. Also, check the CFM ratings - the Makita has a bit more, but the DeWalt is more compact. Just my two cents.

I've had the DeWalt for 3 years now, zero issues. I run a brad nailer and it keeps up fine. But I've also used the Makita and it feels more solid, if you know what I mean. I'd say if you can afford the extra weight, go Makita. If you want portability, DeWalt. Also, you might want to consider the Makita's oil-lubricated pump - it lasts longer.

I'm just a weekend warrior, but I bought the DeWalt because it was cheaper and it's worked fine for my needs. I use it for framing nails and blowing out the garage. No complaints. But my buddy has the Makita and it's definitely quieter. If you're in a neighborhood, noise might be a factor. Just sayin'.
