Hey guys, I'm looking to pick up my first pancake compressor for some light framing and brad nailing around the house. I'm torn between the DeWalt DWFP55126 and the Makita MAC2400. Both are about the same price. Any thoughts on which one holds up better? I've read some reviews that say the Makita is quieter but the DeWalt has a better warranty. What's the consensus here?

I've had the Makita for about 3 years now. It's been a workhorse. I use it for my brad nailer and impact wrench, and it keeps up fine. It's a bit louder than some, but not bad. The DeWalt is good too, but I've heard of some issues with the oil-less pumps on the smaller ones. If you can, spring for the Makita. Plus, the roll cage on the MAC2400 is a lifesaver if you drop it.

I'm a DeWalt fanboy through and through, but I gotta say, for a pancake, Makita might be the better buy. The DeWalt is fine, but the Makita has a better regulator and the oil-less pump is more reliable long-term. I've repaired a few DWFP55126s for buddies, and it's usually the pump seals that go. If you're just doing occasional DIY, either will work, but if you want it last, go Makita.

Thanks, guys. Sounds like Makita is the way to go. I'll grab the MAC2400. Appreciate the help!

Good choice, Felix! Don't forget to grab an extra hose and a good set of fittings. You'll be set for years. Post some pics when you get it set up!
