Found a killer deal on a 6-gallon air compressor - too good to be true?

Hey everyone, just saw this 6-gallon pancake compressor at Harbor Freight for $89.99 with a coupon. Normally goes for like $150. I've been wanting one for small projects like inflating tires and maybe some light brad nailing. Is this a decent starter compressor or should I hold out for something better? Link: [redacted]

Dave, I've used that exact model for drywall nailers! It's actually not bad for the price. The motor is a bit loud and it cycles frequently on bigger jobs, but for small stuff it's fine. Just make sure you drain the tank after each use - these cheaper ones rust out fast if you don't. For $90, I'd say go for it if you're just dipping your toes in.

I bought one last year! It's held up okay for my garage projects. The pressure gauge is kinda cheap and I had to tighten some fittings out of the box, but hey, for under $100 you can't expect perfection. If you're just doing tires and occasional nailing, it'll work. But if you think you'll upgrade to bigger tools later, maybe save for a 20-gallon.

Woodworker here - I'd be careful with that for any finish work. The airflow isn't super consistent, which can cause issues with spray guns or delicate nailing. For rough work it's fine, but if you plan to do any fine woodworking, spend a bit more on something with better regulation. That said, for $90 it's hard to beat as a beater compressor!
