Just read this article about Fresno City College's Advanced Transportation Center. They're claiming to get students 'nearly certified' on day one. Sounds ambitious, but if it works, it could be a game changer for finding qualified techs. What do you all think? https://example.com/article

Honestly, I'm skeptical. I've seen too many 'quick cert' programs churn out guys who can barely change a tire. Real skill comes from hands-on experience, not a piece of paper. But if they're actually partnering with shops and giving real lab time, maybe its different.

I've hired a few grads from similar programs. Some are solid, but most need a lot of mentoring. The concept is good though - the shortage is real. My shop has been looking for a decent mechanic for 6 months. If this program delivers, I'd give them a shot.

As an apprentice, I think this is awesome! I wish I had something like this when I started. The more hands-on training early on, the better. I'd love to see what their curriculum looks like. Anyone know if they offer evening classes? I might consider it for some advanced courses.
