Just read this article. Sounds great but I'm skeptical. How many of these 'certified on day one' programs actually produce techs that can troubleshoot in the field? I've seen too many guys with certs who can't diagnose a simple leak. But maybe this is different?

I think it's a step in the right direction. My nephew went through a similar program and he's been kicking ass at his shop. Sure, experience is key, but at least they got basics down. More shops need to partner with schools like this.

Honestly, anything that gets more people into trades is good. But I wonder what tools they're using there? I hope they're not teaching with cheap no-name stuff. Brands matter when you're learning!

I start my first year at a community college for automotive tech in fall. This gives me hope. We need more trained techs, esp for AC systems and EV stuff. Glad to see schools investing.
