Found a Campbell Hausfeld 60gal 220v compressor at a garage sale for $80. Seller said it works but needs a new pressure switch. Looks beat up but I'm tempted. Anyone have experience with these? Worth the fix or should I pass?

For $80 even if you put another $50 into it you're still way ahead. Those old CH units are tanks - just check the pump for rust or cracks. If it spins free and builds pressure you're golden. Jump on it.

I've got a similar one I found on the curb. Replaced the pressure switch and unloader valve for about $40 total. Been running strong for 3 years now. Just make sure you drain the tank regularly - those horizontals love to rust out inside.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna grab it tomorrow. Hank, any tips on checking the pump? It's belt driven right?

Yeah belt driven. Pull the plug and turn the pulley by hand - should spin smooth with no grinding. If it has an oil fill, check the oil - should be cleanish. Also listen for any knocking when you run it. $80 is a steal even if you gotta replace the pump down the line.
