Hey folks, just a friendly reminder from an old carpenter: when you're running your air compressor, especially in a small shop or garage, wear ear protection! I've been around these things for decades and the ringing in my ears is no joke. I know it seems like a quick job, but that constant hiss and motor whine adds up. Save your hearing, guys.

Good point, Bob! I've seen too many DIYers skip the ear muffs. I always use those foam earplugs and over-ear muffs when I'm running mine. Also, don't forget safety glasses! A burst hose or a fitting blowing off can send debris flying. I had a close call last year. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way. I ran my compressor for hours without ear pro and my ears were ringing for days. Now I keep a pair of those cheap ear muffs hanging right next to the compressor. You guys got any recommendations for good ones that don't break the bank?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm just starting out and honestly didn't even think about ear protection. I'll pick some up this weekend. Also, is it just me or do those compressors get super loud? I can hear mine through the whole house.

For budget ear muffs, check out the 3M WorkTunes or even the HF ones. They work fine. And yeah, they're loud! If yours is really loud, check the intake filter, might be clogged. But definitely get ear pro before you work on it.
