Hey guys, found a used 60gal upright compressor on FB marketplace for $200. It's a 5HP single stage, looks pretty clean. My pancake compressor just aint cutting it for my framing gun and da sander. Think it's worth it? Or is it a lemon? Guy says it runs fine. I'm a beginner, so any advice woud be appreciated.

Lol Steve, 5HP single stage on 60gal? That's prob not true 5HP - more like 3HP real. But $200 for a 60gal tank is a steal if the motor runs and the tank ain't rotted. Bring a wrench and crack the drain - if water pours out orange, run. Also ask for a demo filling it up. I'd snatch it if it passes inspection.

Yeah, I had a similar deal once - turned out the motor was seized. But if it works, great. Check the pump oil level too. For $200 even if you need to replace a pressure switch you're still ahead. I'd go for it but bring a buddy to help load. Those things are heavy.

Agree with Paul. Those off-brand ratings are BS. But 60 gallons gives you great reserve for sanding and framing. I'd offer $150 cash, see if he bites. Worst case you're out $200 but flip it for parts if it dies. Just make sure you have a 220V outlet, that motor won't run on 110.
