Snagged a Kobalt 26-gallon air compressor for $150 – too good to be true?

Found this at a pawn shop, barely used. 150 bucks for a 26-gallon, 2.5 HP oil-lubed compressor. I know Kobalt isn't top-tier, but seems like a steal. Anyone have experience with these? I mostly use nailers and an impact wrench.

For $150 that's a no-brainer! Even if it only lasts a few years, you're ahead. Check the tank for rust inside and make sure it builds pressure all the way. I got a similar Husky off Craigslist and it's been solid for 3 years. Send it!

I'm a woodworker so I need steady air for sanders and spray guns. That Kobalt might be ok for brad nailers but I'd be wary of the cfm rating. What's the SCFM at 90psi? Those specs vary a lot. If it's under 4 SCfm you'll be waiting for it to catch up.

It's rated at 4.5 SCFM @ 90psi. That should be enough for my jobs, right? I don't run sanders much. Mostly just framing and trim.

4.5 is decent for nailers. You'll be fine. Just don't try to run a DA sander on continuous duty. Good find! I'd swap the oil and put a water trap on it if it doesn't have one.
