Hey everyone, I'm planning on building a 12x16 deck this spring. I have a basic set of tools but I need a good circular saw and an impact driver. I've been looking at the DeWalt 20V Max line but not sure if it's worth the money. Any suggestions?

DeckBuilder99, for a deck you want something reliable. I've been using DeWalt 20V for years, never let me down. The circular saw cuts through composite and pressure-treated like butter. The impact driver is a beast for lag bolts. Spend the extra cash, you won't regret it.

I'd actually recommend Makita over DeWalt for the saw. Better dust collection and the blade is smoother. For impact drivers, though, DeWalt has a slight edge. Also, make sure you get a good set of bits and a level. Nothing worse than a crooked deck.

If youre on a budget look at the Ryobi One+ system. Plenty of torque for deck screws and the circular saw is decent. You can get a combo kit for under $200. Not as pro as DeWalt but gets the job done. I used mine for a shed last year.

Pete makes a point. Ryobi is fine for occasional use. But if you plan on doing more projects, invest in a better brand. Also, dont forget ear and eye protection! And get a good tape measure. I see too many newbies eyeballing cuts.
