Hey guys, I’m planning to build a 12x16 shed this spring. I got a basic set of tools but I’m thinking about picking up a nailer and maybe a circular saw. Should I go with air tools or stick with cordless? I’m on a budget but don’t want junk.

For a one-off shed build, cordless is fine unless you already have a compressor. I’d recommend a good 18g nailer and a circ saw. Get a 6-1/2” saw, it’ll handle most cuts. Don’t cheap out on blades though.

I second what Bob said. But if you plan on doing more projects later, a small compressor and a coil nailer can save you time. I built my deck with a Bostitch coil nailer and it was a beast. Just noisy.

Budget friendly tip: check pawn shops and FB marketplace. I got a barely used Dewalt 20v nailer for $50. Also, cordless has come a long way. My Ryobi stuff has held up for years, just don’t get the cheapest line.

Makita all the way, but I get that it’s pricey. For a shed, you could rent a framing nailer from Home Depot for the weekend. Then you can focus your cash on a good cordless drill/driver and saw that you’ll use again.
