Hey guys, I'm looking to pick up a new 1/2" impact wrench for working on my truck and some heavy duty plumbing. I've been going back and forth between the DeWalt DCF899 and the Makita XWT08Z. I've heard good things about both but want some real-world opinions. Which one should I go for?

Go with the Makita, hands down. I've been running Makita for 10 years on job sites and they take a beating. The XWT08Z has more torque and the build quality is top notch. DeWalt's good for the price but Makita is built to last.

I'd say the DeWalt DCF899 has better ergonomics and the variable speed trigger is smoother. Plus, the hog ring anvil is easier to change sockets. Makita's trigger is more of an on/off switch. If precision matters to you, DeWalt wins.

I restore classic cars and I swear by DeWalt. The DCF899 with the Power Detect feature actually adjusts power based on the battery. I've used it to remove rusted bolts on a '65 Mustang without stripping them. The Makita doesn't have that kind of intelligence.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll go with the DeWalt for the precision and ergonomics. The Power Detect sounds like a game changer. Appreciate the feedback!
