Just saw this deal on Hart's 140-piece mechanics tool set for $70 with free shipping. Seems like a steal for the price, but I'm wondering about quality. Anyone have experience with Hart tools? Link in OP.

I've got a few Hart sockets. They're decent for the money, but don't expect Snap-on quality. 140 pieces for $70 is solid for weekend wrenching. Just keep an eye on the ratchet - it might skip under heavy torque. I'd grab it if you need a starter set.

$70 for 140 pieces? That's like 50 cents a tool. Probably fine for basic stuff but I'd be wary of the chrome plating chipping. I've seen Hart sets on clearance before though. If you're on a budget, go for it.

I'm sceptical. 140 pieces at that price means compromises. The sockets might be thin-walled and the drive tools could be sloppy. I'd rather buy a smaller set of known brands like Tekton or Gearwrench when on sale. But for an emergency roadside kit, maybe okay.

Thanks guys. I think I'll pass and save up for something better. My old craftsman set is still holding up anyway.
