Just saw this deal for the Hart 140-Piece Mechanics Tool Set at $70 with free shipping. I'm thinking about picking one up for my garage. Anyone have experience with Hart tools? Are they any good for the price?

I've used Hart stuff on a few jobsites. For the money, they're decent, but don't expect them to hold up like Snap-On or Matco. For a home mechanic or weekend warrior, this set is a steal. 140 pieces for $70 is hard to beat. Just don't go torque on them with a breaker bar and you'll be fine.

I grabbed one of these last year when they were $80. For the price, it's a solid starter set. The ratchets feel a bit clunky, and the case is kinda cheap, but the sockets are machined well and haven't stripped on me yet. I'd say go for it, especially if you're just building your collection.

I'm a weekend warrior myself, and I've had the Hart set for about 6 months now. Used it for everything from brake jobs to engine work. No complaints so far. The 72-tooth ratchet is smooth for the price, and the variety of bits covers most of what I need. If you're not a pro, this is perfect. Just remember to keep the case organized or you'll lose the 7mm socket like I did!
