Hey all, I've got a DeWalt 20V impact wrench that's been reliable for a few years, but now the battery won't charge. The charger light blinks red and green, and it doesn't seem to be taking a charge. I've tried cleaning the contacts, but no luck. Any ideas before I drop cash on a new battery?

Classic DeWalt issue, honestly. I've had that happen with my 20V stuff. Usually it's the battery, not the tool. Have you tried a different battery? If it charges fine, then it's definitely the battery. Also, check if the battery is still under warranty - DeWalt has a 3-year warranty on their batteries. You might get a free replacement.

I've seen that blinking pattern too. It often means the battery is too hot or too cold. Let it sit for a while at room temp and try again. Also, sometimes the charger itself goes bad, so try a different charger if you have one. But honestly, if it's that old, might just be time for a new battery. I've switched to Milwaukee and haven't looked back, but that's just me.
