Hey folks, just wanted to share a quick tip after seeing a buddy get a nasty cut last weekend. When you're working under the hood or doing brake jobs, don't skip on the gloves! I swear by my DeWalt DG5600 cut-resistant gloves - saved my fingers more times than I can count. What's everyone else using for hand protection?

Good point Steve. Back in my carpentry days, I learned the hard way that safety gear isn't optional. For automotive, I'd add safety glasses to that list - especially when you're dealing with rusted bolts or using a grinder. One time I had a metal shard fly right at my eye... thank goodness I was wearing my UVEXs. Old habits save lives, kids!

Totally agree with both of you! I'm a Milwaukee guy through and through - their M12 heated jacket is a game changer for winter garage work, but for PPE, their cut gloves are solid. Also, don't forget ear protection if you're running air tools or impacts for long periods. My hearing's not what it used to be from years of not wearing plugs.

Solid advice all around. From a renovation perspective that crosses over to auto work: respiratory protection is crucial too. Brake dust, exhaust fumes, or even just general garage dust can mess with your lungs long-term. I keep a Makita half-mask respirator in my toolbox - comfortable enough to wear for hours and filters are easy to swap. Anyone have thoughts on shop ventilation while working?
