Hey everyone! I'm finally restoring my 1990 F-150 and the interior is a mess - dirt, dog hair, old french fries. I need a good car vac that won't break the bank but can handle heavy duty cleaning. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards a shop vac but not sure if that's overkill.

I'd go with a small shop vac, like the 2.5 gallon Ridgid. It's cheap and you can get a car detail kit with crevice tools. Don't waste money on those handhelds, they die fast. Under $50 at Home Depot!

I restored a 78 Bronco last year. For that kinda old truck filth, you want something with good suction but not too bulky. I used a DeWalt cordless wet/dry vac (the 2 gallon one). It's a bit more pricey but the battery lasts and it fits in tight spots. Also great for sawdust in the shop.

Steve's right about the DeWalt. But if you're on a tight budget, hit up a pawn shop. I got a barely used 5-gallon Rigid for 20 bucks. Add a pack of filters and you're golden. Just make sure you empty it often or you lose suction.

Thanks y'all! I think I'll go with Wendy's suggestion - the Ridgid 2.5 and a kit. I can always upgrade later if I need more power. Gotta save some $ for the transmission rebuild.
