Hey folks, I'm finally building that shed in my backyard and the dust from cutting wood is going to be a nightmare. I need a car vacuum that can also handle sawdust and small debris. I've got a small car, so portability is key. Any recommendations? I'm looking for something cordless if possible.

Larry, for sawdust you really want a proper shop vac, but if you need it for your car too, check out the Milwaukee cordless vacuums. They have a HEPA filter and can handle fine dust. I've used mine on restoration projects and it picks up everything. Just make sure to get the high capacity battery.

I agree with Wendy, Milwaukee is one of the best. But if you're on a budget, the DeWalt cordless wet/dry vac is also solid. I've seen them on sale for under $100. Its got a blower function too, which is handy for cleaning off the workbench. Plus it comes with a car nozzle for tight spaces.

Thanks guys, I was actually looking at the Milwaukee but wasn't sure about the cordless power. I'll check out the DeWalt too. Do you think a 12V or 20V is enough? I'll be using it mostly outdoors with no power outlet nearby.

Go for the 20V or higher. The 12V isn't strong enough for sawdust, trust me. I made that mistake early on. Also, get the larger batteries (like 5.0Ah) so you don't run out mid-project. And don't forget to clean the filter often, it clogs fast with fine dust.
