Hey everyone, I'm building a new shed in my backyard and my car's interior is full of sawdust, wood chips, and general debris from hauling materials. My old shop vac is too bulky to use in the car. Looking for recommendations on a good car vacuum that can handle fine dust and small wood pieces. Budget is around $100-150. Thanks!

OP, you need something with strong suction and a HEPA filter if you're dealing with fine sawdust. I've been using the DeWalt cordless car vacuum (DCV580) on job sites - it's a beast for debris and the battery lasts through multiple vehicles. A bit above your budget but worth it if you can stretch. Otherwise, check out the Ridgid 4-gallon wet/dry vac - it's compact enough for car use and has great attachments.

I feel your pain! When I built my deck last year, my SUV looked like a lumberyard exploded inside. I got the Black+Decker dustbuster advanced clean+ - it's cordless, has a crevice tool that's perfect for getting between seats, and handles sawdust really well. Only $80 at Home Depot. Pro tip: vacuum your car BEFORE you wash it, otherwise the dust turns to mud!

Professional opinion here: Don't cheap out on this. Sawdust will kill cheaper vacuums fast. Milwaukee M18 Fuel cordless vacuum is what my crew uses - we clean out work trucks daily. It's $199 but if you already have M18 batteries, the tool-only is $149. The filter system is industrial grade. For your budget, the Craftsman CMXEVBE17549 is decent - 2.5 gallon capacity, wet/dry, and comes with car cleaning attachments.

All good suggestions! I'll add that for shed/woodworking debris, you want something with a washable filter to save money long-term. The Stanley SL18116P has served me well through three renovation projects. It's corded (more consistent power than cordless IMO), has a blower function (handy for clearing dust from your shed site too), and comes with a car detailing kit. Right at $100. Just make sure to empty it frequently - wood chips can clog the hose if you let it get too full!
