Hey folks, I'm about to start a big deck project and my garage is going to get messy. I need a car vacuum that can actually pick up sawdust, wood chips, and maybe a stray screw or two from the truck bed. I've been looking at the Milwaukee cordless wet/dry vac, but it's pricey. Any recommendations? I don't want to haul my shop vac around, and my wife's Dyson is not up to the job.

If you're on a budget, check out the Hart 6-gallon wet/dry vac from Walmart. It's like $60 and it comes with a car nozzle and a blower. I've used mine for everything - vacuuming out my work truck, cleaning up after plumbing, even sucking up a flooded floor. It's not cordless though, so you'll need an extension cord. But it's got enough suction to pick up screws, trust me.

I second the Hart, but if you want cordless, the Milwaukee is worth it. I have the 2-gallon version and it's a beast. But the battery cost adds up if you don't already have M18. Another option is the Ryobi cordless 3-gallon, if you're already in that system. Just get a HEPA filter if you're doing drywall dust, or it'll clog.

I'm just an apprentice, so I have to watch every penny. I got a cheap corded Craftsman from Lowe's on sale for $40. It's not fancy, but it's got a 5-gallon tank and a car nozzle. It picks up everything, and if it breaks, it's not a big loss. Also, for screws, just put a magnet in the hose or use a magnetic sweep first. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'm leaning towards the Hart, but I might splurge on the Milwaukee if I can find a deal. I already have some M18 batteries, so that helps. Appreciate the advice. I'll post back after the build.
