Hey all, finally starting my deck build this weekend. Got a bunch of pressure-treated lumber and I'll be doing a lot of cutting with my circular saw. I know I'm gonna make a mess in my truck hauling wood and tools. My old Shop-Vac is dead, and I'm looking for a car vacuum that can handle sawdust and maybe some small debris. I don't want to break the bank, but I need something that actually has good suction. Any recommendations? I've seen some cordless ones but worried about battery life. What do you guys use?

I feel you, Paul. I built a shed last year and my truck was full of sawdust, nails, and all sorts. I got a cheap corded one from Harbor Freight, like $30, and it's been a champ. It's not fancy, but it has a washable filter and enough suction for car interiors. Just gotta keep the filter clean. For $30, you can't go wrong. If you want cordless, the DeWalt 20V Max is decent but you'll need extra batteries.

If you're looking for something to handle sawdust specifically, get a vacuum with a HEPA filter or at least a good cyclonic action. Sawdust clogs regular filters fast. I've got a Milwaukee cordless that's pricey but works great. But for budget, check out the Ridgid corded car vacuum—it's got a car nozzle and a decent filter. Also, pro tip: if you're hauling wood, throw a tarp in the bed. Makes cleanup way easier.

Thanks guys, good advice. I was eyeing the Ridgid but wasn't sure. I think I'll go with a corded one since I'll have a generator on site. I'll grab the Ridgid and maybe a small tarp. Appreciate the tips!
