Alright guys, I'm in the market for a cordless car vac. Mainly for quick interior cleanups after weekend projects. I'm torn between the DeWalt DCV580 and the Makita CL010G. I already have batteries for both ecosystems (yeah I know, I'm that guy). Which one has better suction? I don't need a wet/dry, just something to suck up dirt and crumbs from floor mats and seats. Bonus points for compactness.

I've got the Makita CL010G. It's a beast for its size. Suction is surprisingly strong, and the brushless motor is quiet. The battery slides on top so it's a bit top-heavy, but it stands on its own if you take the nozzle off. Plus the HEPA filter is legit for dust. I use it in my shop vac attachment too. Dewalt's DCV580 is okay but the filter clogs faster IMO.

Check the filter maintenance on both. The Makita has a washable pre-filter, which is nice. But if you're using it around fine dust (like drywall or concrete), the Dewalt has a cyclonic attachment that keeps the filter cleaner. For just car crumbs, either works. Also, watch out for battery life - I've seen people drain a 5Ah in 15 mins on max suction. Get a 6Ah if you can.

Good points. I already have 5Ahs for both, so maybe I'll just snag the bare tool. But now I'm leaning Makita for the HEPA and quieter operation. Any issues with the build quality? I dropped my old shop vac and it cracked.

I've dropped mine from a workbench (about 3 ft) onto concrete - just a scratch. The plastic feels thick. Only complaint is the onboard storage could be better for the crevice tool. But it's solid.
