Alright folks, I'm in the market for a new car vacuum. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt 20V MAX and the Makita 18V LXT. I've got batteries for both systems, but I can't decide. Which one has better suction for getting dog hair out of carpets? Any real-world experience?

I've used both. The DeWalt has a slight edge in suction, but the Makita is lighter and has a better attachment set for tight spaces. For dog hair, I'd go with the Makita. The crevice tool is narrower and gets into the gaps better. Plus, the filter is easier to clean. Just my two cents.

I only have the DeWalt, but I've used my buddy's Makita. Honestly, the DeWalt feels more powerful, but the Makita's brushless motor is quieter and runs longer on a charge. I don't have pets, so I can't speak on the hair thing. But if you're wrestling with dog hair, maybe get a rubber brush attachment? Both are good, you can't go wrong.

Safety first, guys! Whichever you choose, make sure it's rated for indoor use and has proper filtration. Car vacuums can kick up dust and allergens. I've seen people use shop vacs in cars without HEPA filters - big mistake. For the money, I'd check the CFM and water lift specs. DeWalt tends to have higher numbers, but Makita's build quality is top-notch. Also, consider ergonomics - your back will thank you.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I think I'm leaning toward the Makita now, especially with the lighter weight and better attachments. I'll grab a rubber brush for the dog hair too. Appreciate the help!
