Alright guys, I'm in the market for a cordless car vacuum. I've got DeWalt batteries already, but I keep hearing Makita's new model has insane suction. Anyone used both? I'm leaning DeWalt cause of battery compatibility but don't want to miss out if Makita is way better.

I've got the Makita 18V LXT (XCV04Z) and it's a beast. Suction is awesome for crumbs and even picks up gravel from floor mats. Battery life is decent on a 5Ah. Haven't used DeWalt's, but I'm sure they're good too. If you're already in DeWalt ecosystem, just stick with it and get the DCV580. It's on par.

Honestly, for car vacuuming, you don't need top-tier suction. I got a cheap Ryobi from a pawn shop and it works fine. But between those two, go with what matches your batteries. No point buying a new charger and batteries just for a vac. DeWalt's DCV580 is solid and often goes on sale.

Good points. I guess I'll just grab the DeWalt then. But I saw a mod where someone put a Makita nozzle on a DeWalt vac? That sounds ridiculous but kinda cool. Thanks for the input!

Lol that mod is crazy, but if it works it works. Let us know how the DeWalt treats you. I'd still recommend the Makita if you ever switch battery platforms, but for now stick with what you got.
