Hey all, I'm looking to pick up a portable vacuum for cleaning out my daily driver and my project cars. I've narrowed it down to the DeWalt DCV580 and the Makita XLC02. Both are 20V brushless, about the same price. Has anyone used both? I'm leaning DeWalt because I already have their batteries, but the Makita seems to have better suction ratings. Thoughts?

I've got the DeWalt and it's a beast! Picks up everything from gravel to french fries. Battery life is solid too. I haven't tried the Makita, but I hear it's lighter. If you already have DeWalt batts, I'd say stick with them. No point in buying into a new battery system if you don't have to. Plus the DeWalt has that wall mount and hose storage, super handy in the garage.

I've got both actually lol. The Makita is slightly more powerful on paper, but in real world use I don't notice a huge difference. The Makita's filter is easier to clean though, and it comes with a nice soft case. The DeWalt is a little louder but feels more rugged. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. If you're already on DeWalt batteries, just get that one. The convenience of sharing batteries with your other tools is a game changer.

Thanks guys! I think I'll go with the DeWalt then. I've got like 5 of their 5Ah batts from my impact and drill, so it makes sense. Plus my buddy has one and he loves it. Appreciate the input!

No prob! You won't regret it. Just remember to empty the dust cup after each use, otherwise it clogs up quick. Happy vacuuming!
