Hey folks, quick safety tip: I was vacuuming out my truck today with a shop vac and realized I wasn't wearing any ear protection. Those things can get loud, especially in a confined space. Also, watch out for fine dust if you're cleaning up drywall or something – a mask is a good idea. Anyone else have a close call or a PPE recommendation?

Good call Chris. I just use a cheap dust mask from harbor freight for the dust. But for ear pro, I grabbed a set of these $20 muffs off Amazon and they work fine. No need to break the bank.

Back in my day we didn't bother with all that, but now my ears ring if I don't wear plugs. I keep a pair in my glove box. And yeah, if you're sucking up anything nasty, a P100 is my go-to.

Agreed with all. I see guys on job sites vacuuming out dust without masks all the time – silicosis is no joke. Also, make sure your vac is rated for fine dust. Some shop vacs just blow it back out. Stay safe out there.

Great advice, thanks! I'll look into a P100 for the next detail job. And good point about the vac rating, DrillMaster. I'll double check mine.
