Hey y'all, I'm building a cedar deck this summer and I need a car vac that can double for cleaning up sawdust in the garage and maybe the car. I want something portable but strong. Recommendations? Budget around $100-150.

For that price, get a Shop-Vac 5 gallon wet/dry. It's not sexy but it'll outlast your deck. I've had mine for 10 years, used it to restore an old Chevelle and then to vacuum drywall dust. Just buy a car detailing kit for the attachments.

I second the Shop-Vac, but if you want something smaller for the car, the Rigid 4 gallon is on sale at Home Depot for $79. It has a car kit included. I use mine for everything from the work truck to cleaning out my shed.

I'd look at the Milwaukee M18 cordless vac if you already have M18 batteries. It's pricey but no cord hassle. But if you're on a budget, the Ridgid is a solid bet. Just check the filter specs - some cheap ones let dust through and ruin your paint.
