So I just saw this article about a new Shark vacuum that's supposed to be as good as a Dyson but only costs $150. I've been looking for a decent car vacuum for my weekend detailing, and this sounds like a steal. Anyone tried it yet? Or have opinions on Shark vs Dyson for cars? My current one is a $30 special that barely picks up dust.

I've used both Shark and Dyson for years in my restoration work. Shark makes solid products, but don't expect it to literally match a Dyson. For $150 though, it's a bargain if it's got decent suction and the right attachments. Key for cars is having a crevice tool and a brush that doesn't scratch paint. I'd say go for it if it has those, but don't throw away your old one yet until you test it.

Yeah, I've been burned by cheap 'Dyson killers' before. But Shark has a good rep. I mainly use a shop vac in my truck, but for smaller jobs, a cordless is handy. If this Shark is cordless, check the battery life—that's a common weak point. I might grab one for the crew to test on job sites. Let us know if you find any real reviews from users, not just the article.

Thanks for the input! The article didn't mention if it's cordless or not. I'll have to look into it. I'm mostly using it in my garage, so corded might be fine. Anyone else got a good budget car vac recommendation? I'm open to other options under $150.
