Just got the new 20V XR chainsaw and the battery won't charge. It's brand new! I've tried two different chargers, no luck. The light on the charger just blinks red. Anyone had this issue? I'm thinking of returning it.

That's a bummer. Blinking red usually means a problem with the battery or the charger. Have you checked the contacts? Sometimes they get dirty or the battery isn't seated well. Clean them with a dry cloth and try again. Also, make sure it's not in a hot or cold environment... extremes can mess with charging.

Could be a firmware thing? I had a similar issue with a different brand - turned out the battery and charger weren't compatible because of a software update. You might need to check for a firmware update on the charger, but for a new tool, that's odd. Also, check if the battery has a little reset button - some do. Press it and try again.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give the contacts a good cleaning and see if there's a reset button. If not, it's going back. Sucks cuz I needed it this weekend for a big job.

Yeah, don't risk it. If it doesn't work after a good clean, return it. Better safe than sorry. But I've had decent luck with their warranty service if you want to give them a call. They send a replacement pretty fast.
