Just saw this article: 'Avista prepares for windstorm as thousands brace for power outages'. Sounds like we might have some tree cleanup coming up. I'm thinking about getting a new chainsaw for storm season. What do you guys recommend? Always lookin for an excuse to buy more tools! 😄

If you're on a budget, don't go overboard. The Poulan Pro PR4218 is cheap and gets the job done for occasional storm cleanup. Just make sure to sharpen the chain before you start. No need spend big bucks if it's not a daily driver.

I'd say invest in a Stihl MS 251 if you can swing it. Light, reliable, and easy to service. For storm work you want something you can count on when power's out. Also, get a good pair of chaps and a helmet—trust me, had too many close calls.

Safety first! Whatever saw you get, check the chain brake and always use PPE. Eye pro, ear pro, chaps, and a helmet. And check for downed power lines before cutting near them. Even if lines are down, assume they're live. Stay safe out there!
