Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a new cordless chainsaw for yard work and some light firewood cutting. I'm torn between the DeWalt 20V and Makita 36V. Anyone have experience with both? I'm on a budget so I want to make sure I get the best bang for my buck.

I've been using the DeWalt 20V chainsaw for a couple years now and it's been solid for my woodworking projects. Lightweight and reliable. The Makita 36V is also cool but I think the DeWalt is easier to maintain. Plus, if you already have DeWalt batteries, it's a no-brainer.

Honestly, I've had both. The Makita 36V has more torque and cuts faster through hardwoods. But the DeWalt is more balanced and has a better safety brake. For light work, either works. If you're planning on heavy use, go Makita. For occasional trimming, DeWalt saves you cash.

Good points. I mostly have DeWalt batteries from other tools, so maybe I'll stick with that. But I've heard Makita's build quality is top-notch. Decisions, decisions...

If you already have the batteries, go DeWalt. The difference is not huge, and you won't have to buy a whole new battery system. Just my two cents!
