Hey everyone, bought a new cordless chainsaw last week, used it twice to trim some branches. Went to charge the battery today and the charger just blinks red. Tried different outlets, nothing. Battery is warm to the touch. Anyone else run into this?

Probably a defect. What brand is it? I only buy Stihl or Husqvarna, never had a battery issue. Some of those off-brands use cheap cells. Return it if you can.

Before you return it, check the contacts on both the battery and charger for dirt or corrosion. Sometimes a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip fixes it. Also make sure it's not too hot - let it cool down for an hour then try again.

I've seen this when the battery goes into protection mode from over-discharge or overheating. Leave it off the charger for a few hours, then try a slow charge if your charger has that option. If it still won't take a charge, it's likely a bad cell. Warranty should cover it.

Thanks guys, I'll try the cooling off and cleaning contacts. It's a Greenworks 80V. I hope it's not junk. Will update after I try suggestions.
