Power outages coming - time to prep your chainsaws?

Just saw this article from Avista about the windstorm. Looks like a lot of folks could be without power for a while. Got me thinking - who here uses their saw for storm cleanup? I've got a Stihl MS 251, but I'm wondering if I should upgrade to something with more torque for heavy limbs. Thoughts?

Stick with Stihl, man. I've ran a MS 311 for years and it's never let me down. Sure, the 251 is good for light work, but for storm debris you want something that won't bog down. Maybe look at the 391 if you want more juice without going pro. And don't forget chain sharpening - a dull chain is dangerous in a hurry.

If you're prepping for a windstorm, you might want a battery saw too. I got a Dewalt 60V a while back and it's great for quick stuff around the house when the power's out. No gas to mix, starts every time. But for heavy limbs, yeah, gas is where it's at. Have you considered a Husqvarna 460? That thing rips.

Boys, don't overthink it. A good saw is only half the battle. I've cleared more storm damage than I can count. Make sure you got chaps, helmet, and ear pro. And watch out for widowmakers - those limbs hung up in trees. I've seen too many close calls. Keep your saw sharp and carry a spare chain. Oil too.

Anyone else notice the article mentions Avista prepping? That means crews will be out restoring power quick. But if you're in a rural area, you might be waiting a while. I always keep a chainsaw in my truck this time of year. Echo CS-590 is my go-to - affordable and plenty of power. Also, if you haven't tried it, skip the premix gas and mix your own with ethanol-free fuel. Trust me.
