Alright guys, I'm looking at getting a new 18V brushless drill. Between the DeWalt DCD791 and the Makita XFD131, which one is better? I do a mix of woodworking and some light construction. Leaning towards DeWalt because of the ergonomics, but I heard Makita has better build quality.

I've got the Makita XFD131, and it's a beast. I mostly do woodworking and cabinetry, and it handles everything I throw at it. The trigger control is super smooth, and it's got plenty of torque. Plus, Makita's battery system is solid. Never tried the DeWalt though.

Go with Makita, man. I'm a contractor and I run Makita exclusively. The XFD131 is built like a tank, and the brushless motor lasts forever. DeWalt makes good tools too, but I've seen more returns on their drills from guys on site. Makita's warranty is better in my experience.

I'll chime in here. I've been using DeWalt since the '80s, and I stick with what I know. The DCD791 is light, powerful, and fits my hand perfectly. I built my whole deck with it last summer, no issues. Makita makes fine tools, but I prefer DeWalt's ergonomics and the trigger response. Try both in store if you can.

Thanks for the input guys! I think I'm gonna go with Makita based on the feedback. I tried them both at the store and the Makita does feel a bit more solid. Appreciate the help!
