Hey everyone! Just a friendly reminder to always wear safety glasses when drilling. I learned the hard way last week when a metal chip flew straight into my eye. Luckily it was just a scratch, but it could have been so much worse! Anyone else got any PPE tips?

Oh man, that sucks but thanks for the reminder. I always wear glasses but I'm guilty of forgetting ear plugs sometimes. Drilling into concrete is LOUD. Also, if you're using a hammer drill, a good pair of gloves can save your hands from vibration. Stay safe out there!

Great advice! I'd add that for drilling overhead, a face shield is better than just glasses. Had a chunk of drywall hit me in the face once. Not fun. Also, make sure your drill bits are sharp – dull bits cause more kickback and that's when accidents happen.

Good point about the face shield! I need to get one. And yeah, sharp bits are key. I just upgraded to a set of cobalt bits for metal – they cut like butter. What brands do you guys like for safety gear? I need new ear muffs.

I use 3M Peltor ear muffs, they're comfy and have a good NRR. For glasses, I just get the cheap ones from the hardware store but make sure they're ANSI rated. Also, don't forget a dust mask if you're cutting or drilling into old drywall – that dust is nasty.
