Hey folks, my cordless drill (18V Ryobi) keeps stalling when I try to drill into hardwood. Battery shows full charge, but as soon as I put some weight on it, it stops. Let it sit a second, it starts again. Any ideas?

Sounds like the battery is pooched. Even if it shows full, the cells could be weak. Got another battery to test? Also check the chuck is tight - I've had that cause stalling when it slips.

Could be the brushes. If it's brushed motor, they wear down and lose contact under load. Easy fix if you're handy. But try a different battery first like Mike said.

Thanks guys. I swapped batteries with my other drill and it works fine. So yeah, battery is toast. Guess I need a new one. Appreciate the help!
