Is this cordless drill deal too good to be true?

So I was browsing the clearance section at my local hardware store today, and I found a DeWalt 20V Max cordless drill/driver kit with two 5Ah batteries and a charger for just $99! Normally that's like a $250 set. I don't need a new drill, but at that price I'm tempted to grab one as a backup or for my brother-in-law who's always borrowing my tools. Should I scoop it up? Anyone else ever find insane deals like this?

Wow, that IS a steal! Those kits usually go for way more. I've had my DeWalt for years and it's been a workhorse. If it's not a refurb or a display model, I'd say grab it. But check the battery date codes – sometimes those clearance deals are for old stock with batteries that have been sitting around, and they might not hold a charge as well. Still, at that price, even if you replace the batteries later it's worth it.

Man, I wish I could find deals like that! I've been eyeing that same kit for a while but can't justify the full price. If you don't grab it, can you ship it to me? Haha. Seriously though, check if it's the brushless version or not – the brushless ones are usually pricier. And make sure it's not a recalled model. But honestly, $99 for two batteries and a charger alone is a good deal, even if the drill is meh. I'd say go for it!

Good point on the batteries, Dave! I checked, they're dated from a couple months ago, so not too old. And it's the brushless version, Tim266. The guy at the store said they're clearing out to make room for a new model. I ended up grabbing one. Now I have to decide if it's gonna be my backup or if I'm gonna gift it. My brother-in-law's birthday is coming up, but I might just keep it for myself... we'll see. Thanks for the input, guys!
