So I'm at this yard sale this morning, and I see a DeWALT DCD791 with two 5Ah batteries, charger, and a hard case. The guy wants $80 but I talked him down to $50. It's used but looks clean, no visable damage. I tested it and it spins fine. Did I get a good deal or did I just buy someone's problem? Should I be worries about the brushed motor or anything?

Bob, that's a steal if it's legit! But remember, safety first. Check the chuck for wobble and make sure the batteries hold a charge. Also, that model is brushless, so no worries there. But $50 for a brushless drill with batteries? That's like winning the lottery. Just give it a thorough once-over before you rely on it for heavy work. And don't forget to register it with DeWalt if you can, for warranty (though it's probably past that).

Nice find, Bob! My neighbor's got one of those and it's a beast. I'd say you got a solid deal. But as Sam said, check the batteries – those are the priciest part. If they're the original ones from like 5 years ago, they might not hold a charge as long. I'd do a test run on some scrap wood. And hey, if you don't want it, I'll give you $60 for it right now! 😄

Ha! Hank, you're too late. I'm keeping this baby. But I did a test run with some 2x4s and it works like a champ. The batteries seem to hold up too – I used it for like 20 minutes and they were still going. I think I got lucky. Thanks for the advice, Sam. I'll check the chuck and all that. Might even take it to my buddy's shop to give it a real workout this weekend.

Glad to hear it, Bob. And if you ever decide to pass it on, just make sure to tell the next guy to wear safety glasses. That thing's got some torque. But honestly, you got a great deal. Makes me want to hit up more yard sales. Maybe I'll find a table saw next. Have fun with the new toy!
