Hey all, I'm planning to build a 12x16 deck this spring. I need an impact driver for driving deck screws and lag bolts. I currently have a basic drill but want something with more torque. Budget is around $150. What do you guys recommend?

I'd go for the Milwaukee M18 Fuel. I built my shed with it and it drives 3" deck screws like butter. You can get it for around $130 on sale. Also look at the Dewalt DCF887, that one's a beast too.

Tim's right on the Milwaukee. I have the older model and it's still going strong. But if you want to save some cash, the Ridgid R86034 is a great deal and has a lifetime warranty. I've used it for framing and it hasn't let me down.

I'd say think about the battery system you want to invest in. If you already have batteries from a brand, stick with that. I'm a Makita guy myself—their XDT16 is super compact and powerful, perfect for decking. Might be a bit over budget though.
