Just saw this article about those carjackers in Milwaukee. Crazy stuff. I mean, I work with power tools every day, and I can't imagine using them in such a destructive way. The crash was horrific. What are your thoughts? Should we be worried about our tools being used in crimes like this? Stay safe out there.

Yeah, saw that on the news this morning. It's nuts. But I gotta say, it's not about the tools, it's about the people. I've got a full set of Milwaukee tools in my van, and I've never had an issue. Locked up properly, of course. But the real kicker is that high-speed chase - those guys were idiots. They're lucky to be alive, and the innocent people in that crash? It's a tragedy. Makes you think about how important defensive driving is, even when you're just going to the hardware store.

I'm just a hobbyist, but I feel like these stories give power tools a bad name. I mean, I've got a couple of cheap drills and a circular saw I use on weekends. I've never once thought about using them in a crime. The real issue is that these guys probably stole the tools too, or used whatever they could get their hands on. It's not like they're gonna go out and buy top-of-the-line Milwaukee stuff just to carjack. More likely they had some crowbar or something. But yeah, sad stuff. Hope the victims recover and the perps get what they deserve.

Good point Steve. I also read that they were driving a stolen car, so it's not like they had any respect for property in the first place. The article mentioned the crash involved a third vehicle - innocent bystanders. That's the part that gets me. As a contractor, I'm on the road all day with my tools, so I'm extra cautious. I've even got a GPS tracker on my van now. You guys think about that stuff? Maybe we should start a thread on security tips for our work vehicles.

Absolutely Sam. I've got a van alarm and a steering wheel lock, but maybe I should upgrade. I know a guy who had his whole trailer stolen with all his Milwaukee gear. That's like thousands of dollars. Anyway, back to the topic - I think the best thing we can do is just be aware of our surroundings and not leave tools unattended. And maybe support laws that crack down on this kind of thing. But for now, let's hope the justice system works. Stay safe, fellas.
