Hey all, I'm torn between the DeWalt DCD791 and the Makita XFD131. I do a lot of deck building and some cabinet work. I've always used Makita but heard good things about DeWalt's brushless motors. Any advice? My Makita has served me well for 5 years, but I'm due for an upgrade.

I'd go with Makita if you already have batteries. The XFD131 is a beast for the price. DeWalt is good too but you'll spend more on batteries and charger. Also, Makita's ergonomics are better for all-day use. Just my two cents.

I agree with Sarah. If you're already in the Makita ecosystem, stick with it. I use Makita at work and DeWalt at home. Honestly, for most DIY stuff you won't notice a huge difference. But Makita is a little smoother. Get the XFD131, you won't regret it.

Thanks guys! I think I'll stick with Makita then. The battery swap is a big deal. I'll grab the XFD131 next time I see a deal. Appreciate the help!

No problem, man! Check Home Depot around Black Friday, they usually have a kit with two batteries for like $199. Good luck!
