Hey guys, I'm torn between the DeWalt DCF887 and the Makita XDT13. I've heard mixed reviews on both. For precision work like cabinet assembly, which one has better trigger control? My old brushed DeWalt is dying and I need to upgrade.

I've used both extensively on renos. The Makita has a better feel in hand and the assist mode is killer for driving long screws without stripping. But the DeWalt's torque is a bit higher for big lag bolts. For cabinets, I'd go Makita.

Trigger control on the Makita is more precise, no question. The DeWalt's variable speed is good but not as smooth. I've got the XDT13 and it's been flawless for trim work. Plus the battery life is better with Makita's 5.0Ah.

Don't forget the dust resistance! If you're doing a lot of drywall or concrete, the Makita has better seals. I killed a DeWalt in a dusty attic, switched to Makita and it's still going strong after 2 years.
