Headed to Home Depot for some paint and spotted this: Dewalt 20V Max XR brushless impact driver (DCF887) on clearance for $99. Normally $150-ish. I already have the older model but this is tempting. Anyone tried the new one? Is it worth upgrading from the 885?

For $99 that's a steal. I've restored a couple of those for friends – the 887 is noticeably lighter and has better feel. If you don't have a compact impact, I'd grab it. Your 885 still works fine, but this will be nicer for tight spaces. Just check if it's the bare tool or with battery.

Tim, I've been using the DCF887 for about a year now. Great driver. At $99 you're basically getting it at 33% off. I'd say go for it – resell your old one on CL for like $50-60 and net cost is <$50. That's a no-brainier.

Thanks guys. It's bare tool, but I have a bunch of batteries already. I think I'll grab it and sell the 885. Good point about the space savings, Wendy – I do a lot of cabinet work. Picking it up after work!
