Found a Ridgid 18V Brushless Impact Driver Kit for $79! Is it worth the buy?

Hey all, so I was at Home Depot today and spotted a Ridgid 18V Brushless Impact Driver on clearance for $79. That's about half off. I'm a bit of a precision freak when it comes to torque control and speed settings - does this model have good adjustable speed triggers and led light? I'm used to my DeWalt but this price is tempting. Should I grab it or is it a waste?

I've had the Ridgid Gen5X for a while now, it's solid for the price. The LED is decent, lights up the workspace, and the trigger has 3 speeds. But if you're super picky about precision, you might miss the finer control on your DeWalt. However, for driving screws and lag bolts, it's got plenty of torque. Also, Ridgid's LSA (lifetime service agreement) is a sweet bonus if you register it. I'd say go for it if you don't mind a second driver.

I'm a contractor, I've seen those on sale. It's a solid driver, but here's the thing: check the model number. If it's the R86035, it's the brushless one that's been well reviewed. At that price, it's a no-brainer. Even if you use it occasionally, it'll hold up. But for heavy daily use, I'd stick with the big names. Still, for $79, you can't go wrong. Just remember to register it for the LSA within 90 days.

Just as a counterpoint, if you're already invested in a battery platform, maybe stick with that. I use Makita because I've got a ton of batteries. Mixing platforms can be a pain. But if you're starting fresh or need another driver, that's a steal. I've heard Ridgid's brushless are pretty solid. And that LSA is hard to beat. I'd say grab it and if you hate it, you can resell it for more.
