Hey folks, just saw this crazy article about carjackers in Milwaukee leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in a fiery crash. Life-threatening injuries, it says. I know this is a tool forum, but it's about vehicles and safety, and we all use tools on our rides. What do you all think about this? Is it just me or are these carjackings getting out of hand?

Man, that's insane. I saw the headline too. It's scary out there. But you know, it makes me think about how many of us have tools in our trucks. If someone tries to jack me, I'm not gonna be a hero, but I might have a shovel or something. But honestly, the best tool is a good alarm and a steering wheel lock. Cheap insurance.

I've seen a lot in my years, but this stuff is wild. I remember when you could leave your keys in the ignition at a job site. Now you gotta lock everything down. And those crazy chases? They're a danger to everyone. Makes you wonder about the police tactics too, but I'm not a cop. I just know that when I'm hauling my tools, I keep the doors locked and windows up. And if you gotta speed, don't do it with a stolen vehicle.

I hear you all. As a contractor, I'm on the road a lot with a van full of expensive tools. This type of thing keeps me up at night. I've got a GPS tracker on the van and a reinforced lock on the back. But these thieves don't care. They're desperate. It's a shame because it makes us all paranoid. I would say the best defense is common sense and maybe a dash cam. That way if something happens, you got evidence.

I grew up in Milwaukee, and it's been that way for a while. I'm not surprised. The guys in the chase are probably joyriders or professionals. As a gearhead, I know the value of a good vehicle, but these guys are scum. I just hope the innocent people are okay. On the tool side, I've got a kill switch in my car, and I always recommend that to anyone who'll listen. It's a cheap and effective way to prevent theft. Plus, it's a cool wiring project!
