Hey y'all, started using my impact driver more and my ears are ringing after. Do you guys use plugs or muffs? I'm leaning towards plugs cause they're cheap.

Definitely use something! I've had tinnitus for years from skipping PPE. Muffs are better for impact drivers cause they block the sudden spikes better than plugs. Get a good pair with high NRR.

I swear by my 3M Peltors. They're comfy and I can wear them all day. Plugs are fine for a quick job but muffs are king for prolonged use. Also, don't cheap out - your hearing is worth more than $20.

I double up. Plugs and muffs when I'm using my router or circ saw. Impact driver isn't as loud but still hearing damage adds up. Maybe try some foam earplugs first, they're cheap and work well if inserted properly.
