Hey folks, just wanted to share a quick safety reminder after seeing a buddy nearly lose a finger last week. He was using an impact driver without safety glasses and a metal shard flew off. ALWAYS wear eye protection with drivers - even cordless ones! What other PPE do you guys never skip?

Good call Felix. In my 40 years on job sites, I've seen it all. Eye protection is #1, but don't forget hearing protection with those loud impacts. And gloves - not the bulky ones, but fitted leather. Saved my hands from countless pinches and hot bits. Old timers used to laugh at PPE, but I've got all my digits thanks to it.

Totally agree but gotta be smart about costs. Dollar store safety glasses work fine for occasional use - just check for ANSI rating. For gloves, I buy mechanics gloves in bulk at Harbor Freight. My tip: keep a cheap PPE kit in every tool bag. Anyone found good budget ear protection that doesn't fall out?

Carl makes a good point about accessibility! I keep spare safety glasses in my restoration van for clients who want to watch. DrillMaster - curious about your glove preference for precision work? Sometimes leather feels too stiff for delicate driver adjustments on antiques.

Felix - for fine work I use those thin goatskin gloves. More expensive upfront but they last if you care for them. And Carl, those foam earplugs on strings are cheap and effective. Tie 'em to your tool belt so you don't lose 'em. Remember: hospital bills cost more than any PPE!
