Hey folks, just picked up the DeWalt 20V Max brushless impact driver with a 5Ah battery and charger for $99 at a local hardware store. I'm retired but still do odd jobs. I know it's a good brand, but is this a steal or just average deal? I've been using a corded drill for years, so I'm new to impact drivers. Any thoughts?

Carl, that's a solid price! I've been in restoration for 30+ years, and DeWalt's brushless line is workhorse. You'll notice the difference on your next project - no more wrist twisting on stubborn screws. That's a deal I'd've grabbed too. Just make sure you get some impact-rated bits, else you'll be snapping regular ones left and right.

Ugh, jealous! I've been eyeing that same kit, but it's been stuck at $149 everywhere around here. For $99, it's a no-brainer. Just a tip: check the tightness adjustment rings - some of the new models have a setting that prevents overdriving. And make sure the battery isn't a dud - test it right away. But yeah, you'll love it. I use mine for everything from assembling furniture to building a deck. Just be careful with the torque - it'll snap small screws if you're not careful.

Thanks, Hank and Wendy! Good tips. I'll pick up some impact-rated bits this weekend. I mostly do small stuff now, but I'm thinking of building a little shed in the backyard. This might be the push I needed. Appreciate the feedback!

Hey, Carl, you'll be surprised how much easier that shed goes together. I remember my first impact driver - felt like I was cheating! And if you run into any issues, this forum's always here. Good luck, and post some pics when you're done!
